Part 1. Digitalization / Digitalisatie

-1- DIGITALIZATION

New technologies have always been major drivers of social change. They play a crucial role in creating the various industrial revolutions and shaping modern society. Some of these have been more disruptive than others, creating a societal transition in a much broader sense.

One of the most disruptive technologies is the innovation in cloud-computing, algorithms, big data and the robotization. This revolution has been the driver of an entirely new phenomenon: ‘the digital platform economy’.

Part 2. Dehumanization / Ontmenselijking

-2- DEHUMANIZATION

Social structures and human behaviour have drastically changed by the digitalization -and not always for the better-. They have given a completely new meaning to such concepts as work and employment, lifestlye, shopping, dating and tourism. It makes peoples lead a totally different life.

It may be the best times for science, but it is also the worst of times.

The railway / Het spoor

While travelling by train, I got interested in what's outside and made shots with the camera. What passes in a matter of seconds, barely recognizable, broken up, dissected and thus made visible. The often monotonous view changes by the camera showing the incredible diversity that can be seen in a few seconds.

What finally leaves behind is emptiness / Wat uiteindelijk achterblijft is leegte

To our surprise we could simply walk in through the main entrance. Unfortunately the building was already quite damaged, the demolition hammer had done its job. Apart from some furniture there was little left to photograph. It was a cup of coffee with a waffle further down the street that made our day.

Urban exploring: All locations have been visited with the most respect 'we leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but pictures'. No informations about locations and/or how to get in will be shared.
