Bio
I was introduced to photography at an early age so the technique was not completely foreign to me. Rather soon I felt ready to take the next step: give my photos their own identity.
What followed was a lot of research, image analysis and experiments. The result is visible in a direct approach and often darkly stylized work that frequently gives a sense of discomfort and abstraction.
Action and tranquility constantly merge and overlap in my photos. Those two polar opposites represent conceptual directions that go back to different art movements of which surrealism has got my special attention.
Using estranging effects is a conscious choice to create confusion and a more intense focus. To discover that it is not about reality or what is in front of the camera.
In my work it’s all about the expression of a message, an idea or emotion. I don’t intend to give answers to questions but to create room for interpretation and identification.
